Daniel Favorito
B.S. Geology '14
My name is Daniel Favorito and I graduated from Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ in May, 2014 with a B.S.
in Geology. I have been involved with four undergraduate research projects focusing
on topics such as petrology and structural geology working with Dr. Severs and Dr.
Hozik. I have also been a teaching assistant for several geology courses.
The geology program at Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ has provided me with exceptional knowledge of the
subject, as well as practical, hands-on experience. All of the classes I’ve taken
have been both challenging and engaging. One of my favorite aspects of the program
are the field trips where students get direct, first-hand experience learning about
geologic processes. Through taking classes and working on various research projects,
I became very interested in ore deposits and structural geology, and decided to pursue
these interests in graduate school.
In May 2016, I graduated from the University of Arizona with an M.S. in Geosciences.
My master’s thesis focused on characterizing Laramide deformation and alteration in
the southern Tortilla Mountains of southeastern Arizona. Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ’s geology program
not only gave me the background knowledge necessary for graduate school, it also provided
scientific writing and presentation skills that were vital to my success.
Currently, I am continuing my education at the University of Arizona by working towards
a Ph.D in geosciences. I can truthfully say that the geology program at Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ has
fully prepared me for graduate school.
