Engage NJ Announces Nine Students as Kesselman Fellows
Engage NJ the first Kesselman Student Fellows for the Advancement of Democracy, including a team of three ĢƵ students.
The fellowship program was established this spring and named in recognition of retiring ĢƵ President Harvey Kesselman, who has been a staunch advocate for the advancement of human rights in New Jersey.
The Kesselman Student Fellowships empower teams of students to work on local community projects that advance democracy by finding solutions to connect people across differences and by removing barriers to opportunity faced by individuals in local communities.
From ĢƵ, Olivia Lovett, of Somers Point, Lauren Whaley, of Port Republic, and Andrea Sandoval of Freehold, were selected for their project “Dignity and Access.” Their goal is to increase the resources of the Osprey Pantry, ĢƵ’s on-campus student pantry, to improve the overall health, well-being and dignity of the students it serves.
Recent ĢƵ Graduates Use Their Business to Give Back
At F&S Digital, philanthropy isn’t just encouraged. It’s expected.
Founded by alumni Sage Delvalle ’20, ’21, and Francisco Vizcaino ’20, the New Jersey-based technology company in implementing custom technology solutions for clients. They’re also focused on being an active force for good in South Jersey.
“We love this place. We’re always trying to figure out what our community needs, trying to improve the area,” Vizcaino said. “We give everyone who works here days off to volunteer with whatever charity they want.”
From the start, DelValle and Vizcaino knew they wanted to devote resources toward improving the community where they work and live.
ĢƵ is a major force in that community, and when an opportunity arose to sponsor the ĢƵ esports team and provide shirts for the program, there was no hesitation.

3rd Issue of Journal of Gaming, Hospitality and Tourism released
The third issue of the International Journal of Gaming, Hospitality and Tourism (IJGHT) was June 6 by the Lloyd D. Levenson Institute of Gaming, Hospitality and Tourism at ĢƵ. The peer-reviewed, open-access journal was developed to share original research that bridges the gap between industry practitioners and academic researchers and educators.
The issue is a special edition that features articles from undergraduate and graduate students around the globe, said LIGHT Faculty Director and IJGHT Founding Editor Jane Bokunewicz.
Rainforest Revelations at 'Second Saturdays' June 10
Second Saturdays in Atlantic City are a series of family-friendly events, hosted by ĢƵ Alumni Relations, held on the second Saturday of every month at ĢƵ Atlantic City.
Join Jenkinson's Aquarium to learn about the exotic animals of the rainforest from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., Saturday, June 10, in the Fannie Lou Hamer Event Room.
A light lunch will be provided following the activity. Register .

Faculty Focus on DEI in Esports at Conference
Five ĢƵ faculty members at the 60th Annual Meeting of the Eastern Academy of Management (EAM), the regional division of the Academy of Management, held May 16-19 in Philadelphia. The jubilee anniversary of EAM focused on "Towards Justice and Equity in an Unequal World."
The conference included tracks for conceptual, empirical papers, panels, symposia and posters that undergo a rigorous double-blind review process. This year, ĢƵ was strongly represented in various tracks and continues to pioneer in esports and program development.
Noel Criscione-Naylor, chair of Esports Management, interim chair of Hospitality, Tourism and Event Management, and associate professor, presented "Building Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion into Esports Curriculum and Communities" with colleagues Jennifer Aarons, teaching specialist of Hospitality, Tourism and Event Management, and Esports Management; Petar Dobrev, assistant professor of Business Studies-Finance; Monica Amadio, teaching specialist of Business Studies-Management; and Demetrios Roubos, ĢƵ's information security officer and esports program manager.

Rocket League Team Eliminated from World Championships
The ĢƵ esports team was unable to a world championship last weekend at the Collegiate Rocket League (CRL) 2023 World Championships.
But just being one of 16 teams to make it to the finals at the DreamHack festival in Dallas is still quite an accomplishment for the three-person team of senior Brian Busse, of Hazlet, sophomore John Merendino, from Hauppauge, New York, and first-year Anthony Cooper, of Forked River. It’s the second year in a row ĢƵ qualified for the finals. Busse and Merendino were part of the 2022 team that finished second.

Axe Selected To Play In IWLCA Senior All-Star Game
ĢƵ senior Kerstin Axe has one more to play. Axe, who graduated from ĢƵ on May 12, was selected by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association to play in the IWLCA Senior All-Star Game.
The game is scheduled for 12:15 p.m. Saturday, June 10, at the USA Lacrosse Headquarters in Sparks, Maryland. The IWLCA sponsors the games for all three NCAA divisions as a showcase for the nation's top seniors.

🌈 ĢƵ News Rainbow Chaser Announced
Megan Hart, associate director of Alumni Engagement, was the first person to find the hidden rainbow in last week’s ĢƵ News edition.
The rainbow was located in the “Alumni Honored for Outstanding Achievements” photo of the June 2 issue. Hart is pictured with her prizes, which included a ĢƵ knapsack, a blow-up mini beach ball and a phone wallet.

Facebook Live Event June 12 Highlights Leo Ullman’s Life Story
An event co-hosted by the Sara and Sam Schoffer Holocaust Resource Center and the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum will discuss the life story of Leo Ullman, a child Holocaust survivor who is featured in the Sara and Sam Schoffer Holocaust Resource Center at ĢƵ. The ĢƵ film "There Were Good People... Doing Extraordinary Deeds: Leo Ullman's Story" will be featured during the event from 1:30-2:30 p.m. on Monday, June 12, . Normal Academic Hours Next Week; Closed Friday
⏰ As a reminder, you can sleep in next week! The University will follow normal academic hours next week and will be closed on Friday, June 16, in observance of Juneteenth. All offices are open minimally from 8:30 a.m.- 5 p.m., Monday-Thursday. There will not be a compressed work week/flexible work schedule option.
